Senior Citizens Target of Scam Involving Jailed Relatives.

This scam usually involves a phone call to seniors, especially grandparents. The caller may attempt to identify themselves as the grandchild or as an attorney. The caller tells the grandparent that the grandchild was arrested and needs bond money right away. Furthermore, they tell the grandparent that their phone calls are limited, so time is important, The caller requests that the bail money be wired by Western Union to an address that they give the grandparent.

If you receive a call like this, DO NOT send any money. Call the Hitchcock County Sheriff's Office and we will help you locate your family member and determine what is going on.
