Inmate escapes from the County Jail.

On Tuesday, July 8, 2014, an inmate escaped from the outdoor exercise yard of the Hitchcock County Jail between 2:45 P.M. and 2:55 P.M. The inmate Jessica M. Cole, age 23, is described as 5'2", 125 pounds, green eyes and long brown hair. It appears that the inmate suffered several cuts upon scaling the exercise wall and razor wire and may seek medical care.

The inmate is not considered to be a danger to the public. Jessica M. Cole had been arrested for failing to appear in the Hitchcock County Court for two counts of Possession of Controlled Substances.

Escaped Prisoner Apprehended.


On July 8, 2014, at approximately 7:27 P.M., an inmate who had earlier in the day escaped from the Hitchcock County Jail, was apprehended in the basement of a residence less than one block from the County Jail. The inmate Jessica M. Cole, was transported to the McCook Community Hospital to be treated for injuries that she sustained during the escape. Ms. Cole will then be returned to the Hitchcock County Jail to abibe by the Court's Order. Incident and Investigative reports will be filed with the Hitchcock County Attorney's Office requesting that Jessica M. Cole be charged with Felony Escape from Official Detention.
